The Union County Adult School offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Educational Development (GED) preparation classes for adults that would like to improve their literacy and mathematical skills before taking the Florida High School Diploma tests. Classes are designed so that each student can receive individualized instruction.

Our classes meet at Union County Adult School on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. You may register for these classes at any time during the school year. You can register at The Union County Adult School during the day or on Monday or Thursday evenings while classes are in session. Recent Florida statutes has mandated that all Adult Education students must pay tuition starting on July 1, 2011. The tuition amount is $45.00 per semester. Florida statutes also require each Adult Education student to prove that they have been a resident of the state of Florida for the previous 12 months. This proof must be provided in the form of two documents. If residency documentation cannot be provided, an additional fee of $135.00 per semester is required for non-residency. Please call the Union County Adult School at 352-448-5195 for additional information about tuition and residency fees.

All students are given the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) upon enrollment to determine a starting level of instruction. Those that test at or below 8th grade level are scheduled into ABE classes. ABE classes are designed to help you develop your basic literacy and mathematical skills to the point that you can progress into Florida High School Diploma preparation classes. Florida High School Diploma preparation classes are for those that test at or above the 9th grade level. You will receive as much instruction as is necessary to prepare you for the Florida High School Diploma tests. We administer the Florida High School Diploma Predictive Test to determine whether a student is ready to take the Florida High School Diploma tests.
